Where can you see sunflowers in Arizona this fall?

One location is Sweet Flower Home in Buckeye, Arizona. Farm owner Carrie Mayfield plants acres and acres of a variety of sunflowers and then rents out her sunflower fields to local portrait photographers. Permits are $125 a day. So a lot of Arizona photographers will be out there all during the month of October (well, actually from Saturday, September 28th to Halloween on October 31st.)

I currently have plans to be there on Saturday, October 5th, 2024 and will probably purchase permits for some other dates also, probably Saturday, October 26th.

Sweet Flower Home Sunflower Photographer

This is my friend Georgia and her Baby C. They were the first people I ever photographed at Sweet Flower Home, back in the fall of 2022. Wild to think Baby C is now around two years old. She was absolutely brand new here and I feel like this photo above represents new motherhood/parenthood with an artsy take. It’s a hypnotic, slumberous blurry time of life taking care of your brand new little human. I feel like when you look back at that time in your life, it’s all kind of a blur. Which is one reason to get photos like this, to remember how it was and to remember how tiny they were.

The owner of the sunflower fields does staggered planting of sunflower seeds, so that there will be rows of beautiful flowers all month long. Sunflower blooms don’t last all that long, they start to fade after a week or two, so it’s so extremely helpful for photographers to know that at this location they are way more likely to be able to have lovely blooms in their photos. Sunflower Mini Sessions at Vertuccio Farms in Mesa on Power Road

I am super excited to be doing mini sessions this Sunday, May 26, 2024 at Vertuccio Farms, located at 4011 S Power Rd, Mesa, AZ 85212.

My family and I have had tons of fun there over the years and I am so excited that they decided to plant sunflowers this past spring for the summer.

There cost for entry is $10 per person. My cost for the mini session is $150 plus tax.

Pictures, Play & Sunflower Days

Vertuccio Farms is gearing up for our first-ever spring event to celebrate Arizona’s fabulous Sunflowers. We will have all kinds of spring fun this May. Sunflower Days promises to be jam-packed with family-friendly activities, attractions, and tasty snacks.

Admission is $10 per person for adults. Children 2 years of age and under are free with a paid adult. Parking is free.

• Event Hours |  Friday & Saturday 8 am – 1 pm, Sunday 2 pm – 7 pm 

• Event Days | May 17 – 19 | May 24 – 26 | May 31 – June 2

Spring on the farm is the perfect chance to pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the farm. Snacks from our concession stand and items from food trucks will be available for purchase.

Rocker 7 Farm Patch Sunflower Photo Shoot in Buckeye, Arizona

This coming year in Fall 2023, I will be doing sunflower photo shoots at Rocker 7 Farm Patch on Thursdays and Fridays instead of the weekend so that I can serve clients better and we can all have a great time!

Lupita and her family pictured here had their photo shoot on a week day and it was absolulely magical to have the place mostly to ourselves. We had originally planned for the weekend, but Rocker 7 Farm Patch got rained out. There was a massive storm that turned the sunflower fields and pumpkin patch into a lake. There were a few other people there that week night, but we didn’t have to try to stay out of other photographer’s shots and could go about the photo shoot in a much more leisurely way!

After the portrait session part of our photo shoot was finished, we went to the pumpkin patch just as it was getting dark - during the blue hour - and I took a bunch of documentation type photos. I love doing portraits, but I also just really love getting these slice of life type pics.

Rocker 7 Sunflowers

It’s April 2023 as I write this. I find myself thinking about the sunflowers in Buckeye. I know I will be photographing there again this fall. I have made the decision that I will only photograph on Thursday and Friday evenings so that I can best serve my clients and give them a fantastic experience. It’s less crowded on Thursday and Friday evenings and so we can wander around and not get in anyone’s way for photos. There will be limited spots available.
