The best part of this engagement session for me, as a photographer, was how willing Jenn and Mike were to just go around all over the city of Phoenix, and take our time! When we came to a cool spot for photos, we had time to stop and basically play!
Valentines Styled Shoot

I am writing this super quick! Please excuse typos!
What: Styled Valentines Shoot, just because I have been wanting to do this for years and years. Valentines hanging from trees. At sunset for the pretty light. I will have a few other styled-type things inspired by stuff I have seen on Pinterest: VALENTINES INPIRATION FROM PINTEREST
WHERE: The wash next to Western Star Park in Ahwatukee, Phoenix, AZ, Address: Parking lot, 4425 E Western Star Blvd, Phoenix, AZ 85044. Should be ample parking, if not, park in the nearby neighborhood. From the parking lot, look south past the tennis courts to where the trees and the wash are. Look for the trees with hearts hanging from them.
About this location: it's really green from recent rains and I think it will be really pretty at sunset (which will come a little earlier because South Mountain is to the west of here about a mile - the sun is gone by about 5:37pm behind the mountain, and then everything is in shade/shadow.)
WHEN: Saturday, February 4th starting at 4 PM.
WHO: photographer friends and models
If you know any models who would want to do a fun, TFP shoot, could you let me know?
Models can bring their kids, significant others. or just themselves to be in the photos.
ALSO: TFP, free, nobody is getting paid, it's all just for fun. I will buy the stuff for it. It's a way for photogs to hang out, meet, and for everyone to have some fun. I will collect email addresses from everyone and model releases. Please send all the models photos. I am asking models to wear clothes/dresses that seem to go along with Valentines Day and to do their hair and makeup.
Kid-friendly. Feel free to bring your kids. There is a nearby playground. There are bathrooms

Agritopia Orchard
I first met Erin at an ultimate frisbee game at a park in Tempe. She was there to watch her boyfriend Ryan play ultimate and I was there to watch my boyfriend Ryan play ultimate. It was soon after my spinal fusion surgery, when I couldn’t play ultimate. (Thankfully my spine got much better after surgery and I eventually was able to play my beloved sport again.) I had a really good time chatting with her and getting to know her!
Fast forward some years later and Erin and Ryan are married with two little kids!
We met up at Agritopia at the peach and citrus orchards for some holiday photos. I loved how their family portraits turned out!
If you want photos at Agritopia, reach out to me on my contact page here. The Agritopia orchards have very limited availability (more limited than it used to be) so if you are interested, we have to sign up right when spots become available. Usually there are some spots in September, October, and November and some very limited spots available when the peach trees are in bloom in early February.
Highlands Church Wedding in Scottsdale, Arizona
In no particular order, here are some photos from Jessica and Stan’s wedding in October 2008! Jessica found me on my old blog and we met at Lux Coffee on Central in Phoenix to discuss what she was looking for in wedding photography. I just thought she was the coolest person right away and seriously experienced joy hanging out with her at coffee. Some time later my sister and I photographed Jessica and Stan’s engagement session. We went to the LOVE statue in Scottsdale and then to the ASU campus and to the Mill Avenue bridge for really fun engagement photos.
They got married at Highlands Church in Scottsdale, Arizona located at 9050 E Pinnacle Peak Rd Suite 100, Scottsdale, AZ 85255. They had the theme of Love Birds for their decorations and decorated with bright red and a vintage style. Highlands Church was a fantastic location for a wedding; I would love to photograph another wedding there.
I recently read that Highlands Church has created an inclusive/universal playground with shade and a splash pad! I haven’t gone to check it out, but I absolutely plan to take my 4 year old nephew there very soon!
So here are some photos from their 2008 wedding. The formatting might be a little off because I have posted these images in other places.
